Now you want to keep KSEA selected. Next, find the folder that says Heavy Metal. Click on it. Then find the plane that that is the B747-400 United. Select the Plane. You then have the option of choosing real like date, time and weather, or choose your own. Once done this, click on "Fly with these options."
You will then spawn in the cockpit of the plane. If you don't spawn in the cockpit view, press shift9 and you will be in the 3D cockpit view. To look around hold the right side of your mouse and move it around. for this flight, we will be flying from KSEA to KPDX (Portland Intl.) A 747 would never be used for a flight this short, but for tutorial purposes we will use it. The next thing you need to do is go to www.simroutes.com then click on the Search Routes button. for Departing, click KSEA. For arriving, type KPDX. Then click find plans. Click on the first route. Find where it says Aircraft Information, then select the Boeing 747-400. Look for the Download Flightplan button. To the left of it, make sure Xplane is selected, and not a different flight sim. Then click Download Flightplan. Once this is done, you need to right down all the waypoints. The waypoints in this flight are: KSEA HELNS KRATR BTG and KPDX. Once you have written those down and downloaded the flight plan, you can close the website.
The next thing you need to do is go to your downloads on your computer and find the flight plan. Then open your Xplane10 folder. Go to Outout, then drag the flight plan into the FMS Plans. Once you are done this, you are ready to start you're in-flight preparations.
Press the enter button on your keyboard, then press File Flight Plan. For the Departure ICAO put in KSEA. For this flight choose a low altitude. I put in 12000 feet. For the Arrival ICAO put KPDX. For the route you need to put in the waypoints you wrote down. **IMPORTANT** The first and last waypoint is always the airport ICAO...EXCEPT you leave out the first letter. So for the first waypoint its just SEA. The last waypoint is PDX. In the end, the page should look like this:
